The signature event of Visual Arts in the Valley 2020 is the biennial Kangaroo Valley Art Prize & Exhibition ($6,000 first prize, $2,000 highly commended, $1,000 commended).
Curated by Jane Cush – former director, Goulburn Regional Art Gallery, also artistic director, Canberra Glassworks and Southern Tablelands Arts.
Judged by Brenda May – owner/curator May Space, formerly Brenda May Gallery and Access Contemporary Art Gallery, Sydney & Damien Minton – formerly owner/curator Damien Minton Gallery, former coordinator Hughes and Watters Galleries, Sydney.
The Exhibition showcases emerging and established contemporary Australian artists from NSW and across Australia. Works include painting, printmaking, digital, photographic and video art, textile and fabric art, multi-media and new media. Works range from natural and traditional to contemporary.
All finalists are being exhibited and are available for purchase over the October long-weekend (Friday 2 October – Monday 5 October) in the heritage Kangaroo Valley Hall. The Hall is transformed for the occasion into a professional art gallery.
