Lost Thylacine - exhibition of works that reimagine the extinct Thylacine by Filppa Buttitta

March 29, 2019

Along with a large body of work on reimagining the Thylacine and the ways it is ‘lost in the bush’, I have recently completed two portraits. One of Dr Mike Archer (original scientist who started work on cloning the thylacine and which I’m entering into the Sulman Prize) and one of Dr Andrew Pask who is the current scientist working on creating the Thylacine genome (which I am entering into the 2019 Archibald Prize). Both portraits will be exhibited alongside a body of work that explores the theme of the Thylacine.

Through my research and work as an artist, I have observed a nation obsessed with bringing the Thylacine back. My recent work explores this obsession.
