Bottlebrush on Geo Balance

This painting is about seeking balance. It was painted in response to my immediate environment and limitations I felt during isolation with household schedules awry, versus keeping a creative flow and working to embrace imperfect moments. Geometric pattern is employed as visual metaphor for constraints I felt balancing home-schooling duties, while creating new works. The still life scene is juxtaposed with flora and fauna expanding into the narrative to express my creative thought, arranged haphazardly with space given around the arrangement. It is then contained and sitting off-centred on a geometric box askew, conveying constraint. Jessica’s experience and passion for fashion, design, and detail, are woven into her artistic sense and subject matter, working collectively to inspire her work in contemporary realism still life and portraiture. Jessica is an emerging artist based in Sydney with her husband and 2 sons. Awarded the Sir William Dobell scholarship by the Julian Ashton Art School in 2015, she completed her full time scholarship, receiving a diploma of Fine Art. Jessica has since been selected as a finalist in several art awards and exhibited ingroups shows nationally.
