wake every day to the moods of this beautifull valley.
This painting is of a bright sunny day in the middle of winter.
The low intense light casts deep shadows indicating the hidden plateaus and dense forests of the escarpment seen from Wattamolla. The rolling foothills draw the viewer along the valley towards the township. I live beside Brogers Creek that feeds into the Kangaroo River and the casaurinas in the foreground of this painting track it's path.
I have been an art educator both in high schools and in Tafe, ending up as the Head Teacher of Arts and Media at Nowra Tafe. Initial training as an art teacher emphasised painting but later I trained as a ceramicist and then completed a Masters Degree in Creative Arts focusing on ceramics and watercolours. My exhibiting profile has been in ceramics.
In the last 10 years I have concentrated on life drawing and paintings in oil, acrylic and watercolours. Brogers Creek and the Shoalhaven landscapes are a constant source of inspirational material.
