We are delighted to announce that Allan Baptist will return as Curator of Visual Arts in 2018

Visual Arts in the Valley was fortunate to have Allan curate the 2017 exhibition, and so we are delighted to have him return for our 2018 exhibition.

Allan was born in Sydney and has been painting and drawing for over 50 years since the age of three. He has worked in a number of different roles including, 26 years in primary school education and Principalship, 11 years as an independent art consultant and Arts Manager with Local government as well as working on his own art, painting drawing and exhibits throughout Australia.

In 1994 he became a full time artist exhibiting his work in Mildura, Victoria, rural NSW including The Riverina, The Blue Mountains, The Southern Highlands and The South Coast as well as in major galleries in Canberra, Perth and Sydney.

In 2007 Allan was invited by the Mayor and the gallery for a solo exhibition at the Regional Gallery in Nowra.

His imagery has several sources of inspiration; from the translucent light and moods of the coast; the vast openness and visual drama of the Australian landscape; and the exotic beauty and profound dignity of the peoples of Bali, Pacifica and Africa.
