VISUAL ARTS IN THE VALLEY 2020
Visual Arts in the Valley 2020, held over the October long-weekend, exhibits the best in Australian contemporary visual arts in Australia’s most beautiful valley. Total prize money $10,000.
The signature event is the biennial Kangaroo Valley Art Prize Exhibition ($6,000 first prize, plus other prizes) with applications opening in early August. Curator: Joan Cush, former director of the Goulburn Regional Art Gallery.
Featuring emerging, mid-career and established Australian contemporary artists.
Visual Arts in the Valley will continue to showcase local Kangaroo Valley artists, this year through a curated Salon of Local Artists ($1,000 first prize) over the same period. Local artists may enter the Art Prize or the Salon or both.
Visual Arts in the Valley will also host a Kangaroo Valley Art Trail of three premier local studio-galleries. Additional local arts and crafts will be available for sale at the discretion of each studio-gallery. All are within a five-minute drive from the centre of Kangaroo Valley.
A new innovation is a Satellite Gallery: King Street Gallery on William @ The Hive. King Street Gallery on William represents many of Australia’s best-known artists including Elisabeth Cummings, Euan Macleod and Guy Warren as well as promoting emerging and mid-career artists. Curated by Rex Irwin, former director of Olsen Irwin Gallery, with the cooperation of Randi Linnegar, director of King on William, we are excited to bring this very special King on William @ The Hive to Kangaroo Valley. All works will be for sale.
Join us for the October long-weekend in Australia’s most beautiful valley – only two hours from Sydney and Canberra.
