Arts in the Valley is very pleased that Richard Morecroft, famous ABC presenter and personality, has agreed to be the Opening Speaker for Visual Arts in the Valley 2022.

Richard is a distinguished TV newsreader and presenter, radio announcer, interviewer, environmentalist and artist. Long-running host of ABC News Nightly Bulletin (1983-2002), he became such a widely recognizable newscaster that he appeared as himself in many Australian movies and television shows during and after his career. When he left the ABC, he said he was not retiring, but wanted to work in a different way. This has included becoming an accomplished and well exhibited landscape photographer and artist with work in the collection of, among other places, the Australian Parliament House, and an interviewer of many famous artists and curators. His passion also for environmental issues has led him to become a director of the Zoological Parks Board of New South Wales, trustee of the World Wide Fund for Nature, governor of the Taronga Foundation and patron of WIRES Wildlife Rescue.

Richard will officially open the exhibitions on the evening of Friday 30 September 2022 in the Kangaroo Valley Hall, transformed for the occasion into a professional art gallery. All are cordially invited.
